Stephen grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, worshipping the Packers, doing logic puzzles and hacking on BBS systems. He later moved to Milwaukee for college, got degrees in CS and Math, fell in love with functional programming and then made his way out to New York City to build web systems for Arc90.

For Arc90, Stephen is primarily a Clojure web developer but dabbles around on the whole stack. He enjoys solving the hardest problems he can get his hands on which draws him to many of the more interesting branches of computer science. Machine learning, data mining, AI, signal processing, natural language processing and programming language design. When not at work, he can usually be found hacking on a side project related to one of these fields or taking a break at the gym or bar.

He loves the web as a platform and is always interested in pushing the limits of what’s possible.
