Avi Flax
Avi’s our lead geek at Arc90, and that’s saying something. He hails from Baltimore, Maryland, where he developed an interest in technology early on, writing simple programs in BASIC on Apple IIs at school. His first contact with the internet at 2400 bps via a local BBS which used an email gateway. Once he got a PPP dialup account from the University of Maryland, he experienced the joys of Gopher and Archie. He published his first home page in 1994 in the 10th grade, and he’s been working on the web since then, doing web development, application design and development, and eventually architecture and strategy.
Avi joined Arc90 as a developer in 2005.
Some of the technologies Avi’s currently excited about are: HTTP, HTML5, REST, functional programming, Clojure, CoffeeScript, Node.
In his spare time, Avi’s into auto racing, hiking, video games, cycling, travel, science fiction, and Judaism.
