Tom Sartain got his first taste of technology on a Tandy 1000 and tried, for years, to escape it. Unfortunately, he found that more and more of life’s little annoyances could be mitigated by those newfangled inventions. He eventually gave in and pursued a career working on the Web. He taught himself PHP, CSS, Javascript, SQL and other Web–related technologies in order to solve problems. At Arc90, he’s mainly working with PHP and is excited about using REST architecture to discover how well it lends itself to organizing the world’s information.

As a diploma–wielding philosopher, Tom loves to discover the underlying structure and organization of information and finds that programming has a lot more to do with metaphysics than most people care to consider. He’s also a firm believer that nothing is impossible, and that very few things are as hard as we believe.

The Brooklyn resident, a life–long New Yorker, enjoys traveling and photography (though he doesn’t do them enough) and frequenting local food and drink establishments (which he does quite a bit). Tom’s proud to be a part of the Arc90 team, working with creative and intelligent people to do awesome things. He lives for these things, and tries to find the awesome in everything.
