Ravi Rajakumar
Business Analysis / Information Architecture / Strategy
Ravi Rajakumar was born in Montreal, Quebec. His first computer was a Coleco Adam circa 1983, and the first programming language he ever tried to learn was LOGO, in which he once attempted to create a Space Invaders–style video game. He gave up when, after many hours of turtle–graphics programming, the ship came out looking like a messy blob.
Subsequently, he pursued an education in first genetics, then art, wherein he did a lot of work about the physical and phenomenological relationships between nature and technology and the anxieties that people have about them. In the process of that work, he experienced a renewed interest in computers as tools for making art, and in the Web as an artistic medium. After moving to NYC in 1997, he eventually found a niche in making websites and media for scientists. He has held both a real Nobel Prize medal and a Webby award in his hands, one of which he actually won.
At Arc90, he is thrilled to have a job thinking about ways to make websites work better, and to get to do that with such a talented group of people. Elsewhere, he is a husband, father of two kids, and a martial arts student and instructor, and is happily dedicated to all of that.
