Darren Hoyt
Kindling Team / Visual Design / Information Architecture / Product Management
Darren Hoyt forgot all about his creative writing degree in 1998, when he discovered the Internet. He knew immediately that he wanted to be a part of it. Since then, he has worked on all aspects of visual, front-end design and interface design.
In the last few years, he also focused on blogging and built a reputation in the WordPress community for releasing designs and code solutions that probably subvert what WordPress was intended for, but are fun nevertheless. He also runs his own expertise community called WPQuestions, a news aggregator called WPTopics, and blogs about design on his personal site.
After moving to NYC in 2009, Darren has embraced the strangeness of his new home while trying to remain a small-town Virginian at heart, even when NYC’s attempts at Southern-style cooking fall short. He takes advantage of all that City has to offer, including walks around the Lower East Side and across the Williamsburg Bridge, pick-up soccer games, art galleries, photography, geek meet-ups, attending sketch comedy shows and fiction readings.
Darren designed the Arc90 site that you are browsing and is currently in charge of sharpening the interface for projects, including Kindling.
